You all may have come across the testing of bond strength by
pulling the bonded material a-part. But, this method will not hold good the
bonded structure is subjected under compression or shear. That’s why BS 6319
Part 4 – describes about testing of bond strength of products in 4 different situations.
I.e, preparation of composite specimen and subjected combined compression and
shear test and a slant shear test.
The specimen will be prepared as follows:
For testing the mortar bond strength, install the fresh mortar over the pre-casted CC and test it.
In case testing of Bond strength of bonding slurry or adhesive or resin, apply it between the 2 precast concrete and test it.
In case of testing the cracks injection material bond strength, cover the 2 specimens and then pour or inject the resin in between.

The same test can also be tested as per ASTM C 882 in which
CC specimens will be casted in cylindrical shapes.
