Below details provides you the idea regarding how to treat the expansion joints of width more than 30mm width using tape based on thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and epoxy adhesive:
It is advisable to punch the holes at the edges of the tape both side as follows:
Preparation of the edges and the surface of at both side (min 150mm width):
Clean the joints and 150mm width both side. After the installation of backer rod / expansion joints board:
Measure and mark the half of the epoxy adhesive width (min 12.5mm) on the tape and install the masking tape for better look of the treatment.
Measure and mark the half of the epoxy adhesive width (min 12.5mm) on the substrate and install the masking tape and the inner edge using masking tape.
