pH (potential of hydrogen) is a numeric
scale used to specify the acidity or basicity (alkalinity) of liquid. Nothing but, number of
Hydrogen ions present in liquid.
Søren Peder Lauritz (SPL) Sørensen was a Danish chemist, famous for the introduction of the concept of pH, a scale for measuring acidity and alkalinity.

Litmus solution and litmus paper are commonly used as an indicator. For example, blue litmus turns red in acidic medium, the red litmus turns blue in alkaline medium.
Litmus paper is a simple indicator that tells us whether something is acid or alkali. Litmus is red in acids, and blue in alkalis. It comes as red litmus paper and blue litmus paper. Red litmus paper changes colour from red to blue under alkaline conditions, but no change under acidic conditions. Blue litmus paper changes colour from blue to red under acidic conditions, but no change under alkaline conditions. The pH scale and universal indicator can give more information, telling how acidic or alkaline something is. Universal indicator has many different colour changes and so shows us the pH value of the solution. The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, with 0 being extremely acidic, 7 being neutral and 14 being extremely alkaline.
Let see the testing video:
Let see how to test ph value using pH meter:
The Xpert Omatic PH Meter is a top quality brand in the PH Testing market. The meter is available at a very competitive cost and comes with 6 free bags of ph “buffer solution” powder, a leather pouch, 2 ph test strips and an Alkaline Food Chart.
This addresses the performance of a pH test as part of the standard practice for preparing concrete floors to receive resilient flooring. In this video, Jason Spangler walks through proper usage, storage and calibration of the Rapid RH® digital pH meter. Except for distilled water, the kit has everything needed to perform a test, and to check calibration.
As per IS 3025-11:
The pH value can be measured by 2 methods:
2. Calorimetric Method : A series of indicators and buffer solutions
are used for determination of pH value by visual comparison. Ex Change in
colour of litmus paper.
